Meet the Ideas to Action 2022 Awardees

September 15, 2022 WiLS staff

2022 marks the fifth anniversary of WiLS’ Ideas to Action Fund. This opportunity, offered annually by the WiLS Board, supports innovative and collaborative work in order to inspire the creation of new processes, methods, or resources that can be used by other WiLS member libraries and cultural organizations.

This year, we received 33 outstanding proposals from members of all types and sizes around the state. A committee of WiLS Board members and WiLS staff carefully reviewed each proposal and we’re thrilled to announce the eight projects selected for funding this year!

  • Chilton Public Schools: Calumet County STEAMFest
  • Kimberly Public Library: Celebrate Native American Heritage – programming and exhibits in partnership with the Oneida Nation
  • Lakeshore Technical College: Supporting & Celebrating a Multilingual Campus Community – services and collections to support Spanish-speaking and Hmong-speaking students
  • Madison West High School: building a digital archive of school memorabilia
  • Marathon County Public Library: Digitizing Oral Histories and Transcripts
  • Northern Waters Library Service: Advocacy Toolkit – templates and resources to communicate the value of libraries to communities and elected officials
  • UW-Platteville: Capturing the Oral Histories of Rural Teacher Preparation
  • Waukesha County Technical College: Walking in Community: A Place of Our Own – virtual wellness space for librarians of color

Congratulations to these WiLS member organizations! We look forward to sharing more information with you as their projects develop.

If you are interested in applying to the WiLS Ideas to Action Fund, it opens annually in the spring. Keep your eyes on the WiLS website for more details.
