License Review Service

As part of our cooperative purchasing service, WiLS works with vendors to negotiate a license agreement that is as favorable as possible for our members while still respecting our vendor partners’ products. For each vendor we work with, and sometimes for each product they offer, WiLS reviews the vendor’s standard license agreement and requests changes or additions to that license to ultimately negotiate an agreement that supports our members’ goals as much as possible.

We understand that our members get electronic content from a wide variety of sources, each with different and sometimes complex usage terms. Guided by LIBLICENSE’s Model License Agreement (November 2014), and our own License Review Checklist, this service for cooperative purchasing members helps streamline and communicate agreement terms and save our members time and money.

We continue to review these license agreements as they are signed. The negotiated license and review checklist can be found on the WiLS website with the vendor information, but this is a continual work in progress. If you have a question or would like to see a vendor license agreement that you cannot find on our site, please contact the Cooperative Purchasing team at coop@wils.org.
