My name is Sarah Lundquist, and I am joining WiLS as the Curating Indigenous Digital Collections fellow. This position is funded by an NEH grant and is a partnership between WiLS and the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin to support the preservation of traditional Ho-Chunk knowledge in the digital space. In doing so, it utilizes Mukurtu CMS, which is an archive platform designed to meet the unique needs of Indigenous communities. My role is to assist the Ho-Chunk Nation in safeguarding their language and cultural information.
I am currently completing a PhD at UW-Madison in Language Sciences. My focus is in preserving and promoting Native American languages, with specific attention to the Ho-Chunk language and Ho-Chunk grammar. I am also a TLAM (Tribal Libraries, Archives, and Museums) alum. I am passionate about promoting access to libraries as well as other archival and research institutions. Needless to say, I feel very fortunate to be involved with WiLS in this position which combines these interests so wonderfully.
I live in Madison and work mostly from home alongside my cat, Violet. Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities like camping, hiking, foraging, and spending time on the water. I also love tea and hosting tea parties with friends, and listening to a variety of podcasts.
