New Vendor Partner: Newsreel

WiLS staff

The WiLS Cooperative Purchasing team is pleased to announce a new vendor partnership with Newsreel.

Newsreel is an award-winning daily news source built for libraries and schools. Every weekday it publishes dozens of stories written and checked by journalists, and each one comes with a quiz, a poll, and a listening option. It was named NAMLE’s 2025 Media Literacy Resource of the Year and is used in more than 350 libraries and schools by readers of all ages. Every story can be read at multiple reading levels, so the same story works for a middle schooler and for an adult overwhelmed by the newscycle.

A note from the Newsreel founder:
My name is Jack Brewster and I am an award-winning journalist and Forbes Under 30 recipient. I covered misinformation at Forbes, and in 2024 I broke the story that traced the source of the viral false claim that Haitian migrants were eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio. I left the day after that election to build Newsreel, because I had come around to thinking that publishing more good journalism is not enough on its own. People have to be able to find it, and it has to fit into a day that is already full. Newsreel is built for the millions of people who have given up on the news, and it tries to meet them in the formats they already use rather than asking them to come back to ours.
