WiLS Data Classroom: Practical Data Skills for Libraries, with Libraries

WiLS staff

This fall, you can be a part of the first WiLS Data Classroom to learn practical data skills specifically for public libraries and with public library peers.

This opportunity allows you to:

  • increase your data skills and confidence
  • make meaningful use of the data you are already collecting
  • create compelling data-informed stories about your library

As part of the Data Classroom, you’ll explore foundational research and data concepts and dig into monthly topics that build from that foundation. You’ll leave with the ability to identify existing library-focused data resources, collect your own novel data, use data for assessment and evaluation, conduct basic data analysis, and create impactful data visualizations. In addition, you’ll have the chance to network with fellow library staff across the state and have access to the expertise of WiLS’ Data Analyst for questions and inspiration.

The Data Classroom will be a hands-on experience using real-world data so you leave with knowledge that directly impacts your work and outputs that can be implemented immediately.

We aim for a minimum of four participating libraries to move forward with the fall 2023 Data Classroom session, which will begin in October. The deadline to confirm participation is September 25th. If you are interested, please contact Kim Kiesewetter at kim@wils.org for more information or to get started!
